Hi gals!
So my schedule lately has gotten really crazy. On top of that I am going to be out of town for the next 2 weeks and when I get back I will be starting to work every Wednesday to cover the maternity leave of one of the nurses I work with. Needless to say, I won't be able to make it to our playgroup for the next little while! I am looking for someone to take over and "be in charge". Basically you would just be responsible for coming up with a location, posting it to the blog and then hopefully attending that playgroup. I am hoping to get someone who is reliable and excited about getting together with other moms. Please email me if you are interested & I'll make sure you have "administrator" status on our blog. (I know this is an actual calling in several other Eugene wards, but since that calling doesn't exist in ours, we need someone to volunteer!!). I'd be happy to take over again in a few months if needed. In the meantime, I'll miss seeing you all on Wednesdays but would still love to do playdates if anyone's interested!! Thanks everyone!

Summer is here!
Well at least school is officially out for the kiddos! :) Because of that, I have made a few changes to the blog. I've been approached by some women in the ward that have school-aged children and we would like to use this blog as a site where all moms can post activities for the summer that they'd like to include others in. For example, Eugene has weekly free movie nights, discounted swim days, etc. Because of that, I changed the title of the blog to "Mom & Me" instead of "Mom & Tot". Also, I know there are women that are only free for playgroups on Fridays, so I've decided to change a few of our activity days to Friday to accommodate them as well. I hope it isn't too confusing!! Please check back to the blog frequently for any clarifications on playgroup days as well as locations. You are also welcome to call, text or email me if you have any questions or concerns. I have also decided, due to a few requests, to change our meeting time to 11:00. If anyone has any serious objections to either the day or time changes, please let me know. With that said, I also thought I'd post the next two months' schedule in advance (I've been terrible at letting everyone know in time), so here it is!
Wednesday 6/15 - Candlelight Park (on Royal)
Friday 6/24 - Bethel Communtiy Park ("Sand Park")
Wednesday 6/29 - Skinner's Butte Park
Friday 7/8 - Bethel Community Park
Wednesday 7/13 - Candlelight Park
Wednesday 7/20 - Bethel Community Park
Friday 7/29 - Lone Pine Farms (wohoo for goat feeding - the kids love it!)
By popular demand, I have scheduled Bethel Community Park every other week (it has the largest playground & is where we usually get the best turnout). I also tried to rotate close places (within walking distance) and ones we'd have to drive to, in order to accommodate those who don't have cars. If anyone knows of any other fun parks or meeting options, I am always open to suggestions and can definitely make changes as we go along - let me know!!
I also want to say thank you to everyone who supports our playgroup! It has been a great way to stay in touch with women in our ward and I encourage everyone to try to come frequently. The more women & kids we have, the more fun it is and the more we are able to strengthen our friendships and support each other. I love you all and hope to visit with you soon. :)
Brooke
(P.S. just so I don't feel totally guilty about it - I won't be able to make it tomorrow due to work (I know it's a terrible trend lately...this is my LAST Wednesday!!), but a few other women have agreed to be in charge. Please still plan to go so they aren't lonely!)

Hey guys!
I am so sorry but I COMPLETELY forgot that today was Wednesday & that we have Mom & tot...and I'm at work! Guess Memorial Day got me off by a day. Anyway, I think it's sunny, so why don't we plan for Candlelight Park (dog park on Royal) at 10:30. Unfortunately I won't be there :( but I hope you have a fabulous time!!

The rain returns...
Darn! It's been so sunny and now the day we're going to get together, it starts to rain. Bummer! Well, I think we better head back to the church (which is still lots of fun!). We're excited to get out of the house, so we'll see you there at 10:30!

Now that the weather is warming up, we'd like to start spending most of our playgroups at different parks. However, since the weather is still frustratingly unpredictable, we know that's not always a possibility. So here's our compromise - we are going to post our location each Wednesday by 10:00. If it is sunny, we'll be outside; if not, we'll either head to the church or another fabulous indoor location! Please check this blog each week to find out where we'll be. If it's easier for anyone, I can also send out text message notifications to let everyone know our location. If you'd like to receive a reminder text, please either leave a comment with your phone number or call/text/email me and let me know! Thanks everyone, and we'll see you Wednesday! :)

Hooray for sunny days!
The sun is finally here, but apparently won't stay long....so we need to take advantage of it! For our playgroup tomorrow we will be heading to Bethel Community park (aka "sand park"). Come join us and soak up the sun! Hope to see you there.

Easter Party!
Next week we will be having an EASTER PARTY for the kiddos! We will have an Easter egg hunt, crafts, cupcake decorating & games. The party will be held in the gym on Friday April 22nd at 10:30. It's going to be a blast so don't miss it! :)
Side notes: This will take the place of our weekly get-together so please don't show up on Wednesday...we'd feel really bad! :) Also, please bring a bag or basket for each child for the Easter egg hunt. See you there!

A newborn's conversation with God
Hey guys! I wanted to post this on here, because it really touched my heart. I thought everyone might enjoy it :) I also found it to be quite appropriate for a Mom & Tot Group...
A Newborns Conversation with God.
A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"
God said, "Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."
The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."
God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you.
And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."
Again the small child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"
God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."
"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"
God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."
"Who will protect me?"
God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."
"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."
God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."
At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name.."
God said, “You will simply call her, Mom."

Welcome Back!
We are finally starting our weekly get-togethers up again! For now we are planning on meeting in the nursery room at the church at 10:30 on Wednesdays. Once the sun starts shining, we'll head outside, but for now we better stick indoors. Occasionally we will change locations to different indoor playgrounds, but the church will be our standard meeting spot. It is close to everyone, private, and has lots of room for lots of kids to play! Occasionally we'll also add in snacks & crafts...if you'd like to volunteer to plan something, please let me know. I'm looking forward to seeing you all soon...I've missed you!
